Company Origination vs Estimate and Order Origination

CoreBridge keeps two related but separate Origination values. One lives on the customer (company) record. The other lives on each Estimate or Order.

That is why selecting a customer who already has Company Origination filled in does not automatically fill Estimate Origination or Order Origination.

Company Origination

Company Origination records how the customer first learned about your shop (for example, social media, referral, or existing customer).

  • Maintain the list under Settings → Sales → CRM Lists → Originations.
  • Set the value on the company under Sales → Customers → Companies → Company Details → Customer Information → Company Origination.
  • Company Options can require Company Origination when creating a new company.

Estimate Origination and Order Origination

Estimate Origination and Order Origination record how that specific estimate or order came in. A long-time customer may originally have found you through a trade show, then later send a new job after seeing a social media post. The company record keeps the original source; the estimate or order can track the source for that job.

  • On a new Estimate, use the Estimate Origination field in the header (or Step 2 Details in Evo).
  • On a new Order, use the Order Origination field.
  • Under Settings → Sales → Estimate and Order Options, you can require Estimate Originations and/or Order Originations so the field must be filled before save.

Why both fields exist

Company Origination supports CRM and marketing reporting on how customers are acquired. Estimate and Order Origination support reporting on how individual jobs and revenue were sourced, which can differ from the original customer acquisition source.

CoreBridge does not copy Company Origination into Estimate or Order Origination automatically.
