Special Characters in Company Names

When you create or edit a company in CoreBridge Legacy V3, some keyboard characters cannot be entered in the Company Name field. If a character does not appear when you type it, the system is blocking that character by design — this is expected behavior, not a bug.

Characters that cannot be used in Company Names

  • Forward slash ( / )
  • Backslash ( \ )
  • Curly braces { }
  • Square brackets [ ]

When you type one of these characters, it will not appear in the field.

Characters that are supported

Many other special characters work in company names, including hyphens, ampersands, apostrophes, periods, and exclamation marks. Examples: H&M, AT&T, Smith-Widgets.com, and Yahoo!

Workaround when you need a slash in the name

If the legal or marketing name includes a slash, use an alternative format in CoreBridge:

  • Replace the slash with a hyphen — e.g., Company A - Company B
  • Use the word and — e.g., Company A and Company B

Where this applies

This restriction applies when you create or edit a company at Sales / Customers / Companies. The same character rules also apply to Contact Name fields.
